Potential Cons

K

Motion capture

You only get 12 seconds of motion capture per alert saved to the cloud and then the camera idles for 5 minutes before it will record another 12 seconds. However in order to get a continuous capture you have to order a CMC subscription (continuous motion capture) and motion event will continue to record for as long as there is motion. With CMC there is no idle period and the complete recording will be saved in the cloud for 2 weeks.

K

Wifi Mode

If you are not using a local storage MicroSD card then you are completly reliant on Wifi. Once your Wifi is down so is all recording unless you have the MicroSD card. Also the camera only supports WiFi: 802.11 b/g/n 2.4GHz WPA and WPA2 protocols and does not currently support 5GHz network.

K

Power

To power the camera it uses a power adapter input – 110-240V (AC/DC) which is fine hower if the power goes out or the adapter cord is cut the camera is rendered useless and it does not use batterries so there is no backup power.

K

Permanent mounting

The unit has a nifty magnetic and sticky pad mounting base which is great for placing it on various surfaces. However it has no secured mounting method so someone can just take the camera or it can get knocked down.

Final Thoughts – Wyze camera review

The team at iReviewPros found that the Wyze indoor home camera system was best suited for monitoring a home and is the perfect nanny cam solution. With that being said many do use it for security and it really depends on what level of security you are looking for. For security we believe it is a very basic level of comfort and for the price it is worth consideration. The picture quality is great and the CMC subscription (continuous motion capture) which is purchased separately is well worth the investment if you are using it for security purposes.

Our main grips with the product out of the box was that it does not operate with batteries in instances where the power was down or the cord was cut. Also that it was not fit for mounting it securely to  surfaces so that it can not be easily disturbed or removed. When talking to others users about the wyze camera review I have found ways to get around some of my grips with this unit like finding a solution to mount it securely and hiding the power cords but all together you will still be hard pressed to find a quality indoor home camera system this affordable that is uniquely useful.
